This old goat
You know when they say it's about the journey and not the destination... Well, I'm pretty goal oriented. I usually have eyes on the destination, work hard and get there no matter what. So when I decided at 48 years old, to get back to university, I had one goal. Get the education to become a university teacher. To do so, two steps. Get the Bachelor of Fine Art (I give myself 2 years) and then getting the Master (another 2 years). So if everything goes well and I can stick to the plan, I should get to my destination by the time I'm 52. LOL. hummm. I know better now. This time, the old goat (I'm a Capricorn) that I am is gonna enjoy the journey. When you're younger, everthing is new and a learning experience. By the time you get to middle age, you experienced quite a lot.... and you know things. (but not everything) I'm having, right now, the opportunity to be surrounded with new again. New knowledges, new experiences, new people, ... same goat, new journey. This year only, I painted with gouache, learn about patterns, learn to draw with different mediums, write about Art (in english, tap on my shoulder guys), discover new contemporary artists, learn my way around a darkroom, learn to develop my own films, and sculpt with clay, plaster, alluminium and wires. Oh, and I did origami. Most of it, for the first time. I'm so happy I did this. Perhaps, I'm still looking at the destination, but dear God I'm enjoying the journey.
